About Us

Yusef Ahmed

Yusef Ahmed established FIC Frankfurt International in 2011 with the aim of supporting German SMEs with their internationalization into the MENA region as well as in the establishment of strategic business partnerships.

He is also an Advisory Board Member at Culture Bridge Egypt, an initiative connecting Egypt based on principles of intercultural diplomacy. From 2015 and 2018 he was furthermore a Board Member at GHORFA German-Arab Industry and Commerce in Berlin.

Previously, he worked for the Munich-based investment bank Baader Bank, where he was responsible for “Strategic Alliances Management” and “International Business Development” with focus on the MENA region between 2008 and 2011. He also served on the Board of Directors of an Omani Financial Services Company in Muscat and various positions at Deutsche Bank.

Norbert Reeg

Norbert Reeg heads the International Multi Family Office Division. He has more than 30 years of experience in dealing with international UHNWIs and institutional clients, including 28 years of banking experience at Deutsche Bank. From 2003 to 2017, he was Managing Director of Deutsche Bank’s International Wealth Management division at its headquarters in Frankfurt am Main.

Between 1999 and 2003, he led Private Wealth Management in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He also has extensive international expertise in numerous activities and projects, including in Luxembourg, Geneva, London, Dubai and Cairo.

Suzan Scheffen

Suzan Scheffen is an active Advisory Board Member at the FIC Group. Her main areas of expertise include market entry and business development in Egypt, setting up companies (structures / processes), organizational development as well as change management and personnel management. With over 20 years of management experience, among others with responsibility in areas such as sales, marketing, finance and supply chain in various companies in Europe and the Middle East, she gained valuable experience in national and international companies. Her spectrum of activities ranges from corporate structures, medium-sized and start-up companies.

Dr. Awwad Al Nesafi

Dr. Awwad Al Nesafi has over 30 years of managerial experience in the public and private sector in Kuwait. With a strong managerial and financial background as well as a local and international experience of working on senior positions, Dr. Awwad has a consistent track record of successfully employing best practices to improve efficiencies.

Since 2016 is an assistant professor at the Arab Open University specialized on Finance and Accounting. Between 2011 and 2016 he has been the Managing Director at KCME, a Kuwait-based gas company. Prior to that he had worked as a Member of the Board of Directors and a Managing Director at the KNG (Kuwait National Guards). Educated in Kuwait, the USA and the UK, Dr. Awwad is familiar of working in a multicultural environment. He holds a Master’s degree in Accounting specialized in Banking & Finance from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland and a Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Essex.

Prof. Dr. Waldemar A. Pfoertsch

Waldemar A. Pfoertsch is Professor for International Business at the Pforzheim University, Germany and lecturer for B2B Marketing and B2B Brand Management at the Mannheim Business School and at the Tongji School of Economics and Management (SEM) Shanghai, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC) and at ESAN in Lima, Peru.

From 2007-2010, he was Professor of Business Marketing at China Europe International Business School Shanghai (CEIBS). His other teaching positions have been at the Executive MBA Program of the Liautaud Graduate School of Business and at the Steinbeis University in Berlin, the University of Cooperative Education Villingen-Schwenningen. He was visiting Associate Professor at Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University and Lecturer for Strategic Management at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. He has taught online with the University of Maryland University College Graduate School. At the start for his career he was Research Assistant at the Technical University of Berlin.

Dr. Pfoertsch has extensive experience in management consulting. In his years at UBM/Mercer Consulting Group, Arthur Andersen Operational Consulting and LEK Consulting, he worked throughout Europe, Asia and North America, assisting companies in developing international strategies. His earlier positions include controlling, sale development and strategy planning at SIEMENS AG in Germany/USA. He has been Economic Advisor to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Dr. Pfoertsch is the author of various books and numerous articles. The most current books (2017) are a collection of readers about Working Abroad, including a text book, a case study collection, country studies and country metaphors. He published with Katherine Xin, Arthur Yeung, and Shengjun Liu – The Globalization of Chinese Companies: Strategies for Conquering International MarketsIngredient Branding: Making the Invisible Visible and B2B Brand Management were co-authored with Philip Kotler from Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He also published Business-to-Business Marketing with Rob Vitale and Joe Giglierano in 2010 and with Peter Godefroid B2B Marketing in 2009. In the field of Internet Marketing, he has published Living Web and Internet Strategy, books on application of Internet marketing and Internet strategy He has also written numerous articles on international strategies; B2B Brand Management, Ingredient Branding, Internet Marketing, CRM and market opportunities in emerging markets.

His books are translated in 20 different languages and highly referenced. He holds various board positions with private and not-for-profit organizations.

Wolfgang Schäfer

Wolfgang Schäfer is a seasoned financial professional and for most part of his career he has been with some of the leading German and international banks. Holding a licence as ‘Geschaeftsleiter’ for more than 30 years, he has been General Manager at The Bank of New York, at Misr Bank-Europe and Bank of Beirut (UK) Ltd. in Frankfurt. Specializing in foreign trade and payment services, his stints have had a strong focus on the Middle East and Russia.

Other important financial institutions that he had worked with include Commerzbank, Chase Bank, Lampebank and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Opening, restructuring and management of foreign banks in Germany as well as export finance and payment services are some of the core areas of his expertise. He had been a board member at GHORFA the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry e.V. in Berlin and AHK the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Cairo.

Hassan Sohbi

Hassan Sohbi specializes in transactions in the areas of M&A, venture capital and capital markets law with a focus on technology companies. His clients include international companies, renowned venture capital investors, start-ups, family offices, as well as investors from the Middle East and South Asia. He is member of the international Middle East Practice Group at Taylor Wessing and a member of the firm’s Partnership Board (Partnerrat).

Hassan is also a founding member and director of Business Angels FrankfurtRheinMain e.V. He publishes regularly, in particular on investment issues (private equity, venture capital) and capital market topics and is quoted regularly in the international specialist press. He has been ranked for many years in the relevant legal directories such as JUVE, The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers Handelsblatt as a highly recommended lawyer for M&A and Venture Capital. He is a teaching fellow for Venture Capital at the Frankfurt School of Management and Finance (HfB).
